Tajikistan Ambassador to Iran Nizomiddin Zohidi on February 14 met in Tehran with the head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Mehdi Imanipour, according to the Tajik Embassy in Tehran.

The parties reportedly exchanged views on the importance of further expansion of mutually beneficial cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.

Meanwhile IRNA says Mr. Zohidi called for holding a Week of Tajikistan Culture in Tehran.

The Tajik diplomat reportedly hailed Iranians' constant and firm commitment to the ideals and values of their Revolution, describing Iranian president's visit to Tajikistan as a sign of expanding relations and planning for the development of bilateral ties.

Zohidi described cultural diplomacy as a tool of foreign policy that affects important role in expanding joint cooperation, exchange of cultural values and the development of relations between governments and nations, according to IRNA.

Pointing to the level of relations between Iran and Tajikistan, Zohidi reportedly highlighted that Tajikistan has always wanted to expand bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and strives to further strengthen and expand cooperation.

Mr. Imanipour, for his part, highlighted the role of culture and art in expansion of friendship between nations, hoping that the exchange of cultural and art delegations between Iran and Tajikistan would continue.

During the meeting, the two sides reportedly expressed readiness to further develop cooperation between the two countries.

The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) is the Islamic Republic of Iran's primary organization for implementing and leading cultural outreach outside of Iran.   The Organization is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
