Residents of Dushanbe and other regions of the country have complained about the queues at ATMs and the lack of cash in them.  According to them, it is impossible to withdraw money from cards on weekends.

Credit card users have posted on social media pictures showing the queues at ATMs of Amonatbonk, Spitamen Bank, Bank Eskhata and Microcredit Deposit Organization (MDO) Dushanbe City aтd the lack of cash n them.

One of readers of Asia-Plus from the Roudaki district has sent a picture showing the queue at Bank Eskhata’s branch in the district wanting to enter the bank to withdraw money from their credit cards since ATMs don’t work and have no money in them.  According to him, there were about 160 people in the line.

“But in three hours, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, the bank served only 20 of its customers,” the reader said.

Another Facebook user, who introduced himself as Nurali Davlat, has said that ATMs of Amonatbonk, Bank Eskhata, Orienbonk and MDO Dushanbe City in the Kulob area of the Khatlon province do not have money in them.

“I have failed to withdraw money from my credit card from Kangurt in the Temurmalik district to the Danghara district and further to Dushanbe.  Relevant structures, explain please what is wrong with your ATMs?” writes the Facebook user.

Meanwhile, Ms. Dilafrouz Rahmatova, a spokeswoman for Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s saving bank), says that according to their observations, congestion of people at ATMs occurs at the first days and at the end of a month and lasts not more than 5-6 days.

A representative of MDO Dushanbe City, explaining reasons for the lack of money in ATMs on weekends, says, “First, there is such a chain – the exchange rate of the Russian ruble has risen and the volume remittances from Russia has increased significantly, and the exchange rate peak has fallen on weekends.  Secondly, people began to withdraw their money more often.”
