Tajikistan, Uzbekistan vow to boost multifaceted partnership

A ceremony of signing of a number of documents aimed at strengthening the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan multifaceted partnership were signed yesterday at the end of the high-level Tajik-Uzbek talks in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

The Tajik president’s official website says Emomali Rahmon and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in particular, signed a historic Declaration on strengthening eternal friendship and alliance between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

The presidents reportedly then witnessed the signing of seven documents at the level of governments, ministries and agencies.  

 

Among them are:

–  A "Roadmap" for the development of bilateral cooperation between the Sughd province of Tajikistan and the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan;

– A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan and the Sericulture Development Committee of Uzbekistan in the field of -sericulture; 

– A MoU on cooperation between the Department for Financial Monitoring of the National Bank of Tajikistan and the Economic Crime Control Department of the Prosecutor-General’s Office of Uzbekistan in combating money laundering, terrorist financing and mass destruction weapons proliferation;  

– A MoU on cooperation between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan and the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection of Uzbekistan;

– A MoU on cooperation between the ministry of economic development of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan;

– An agreement between the ministries of culture in the field of culture and art for 2022-2023;

– A "Roadmap" for further deepening and expanding cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation;

 

In all, fifteen new cooperation documents were reportedly signed during Tajik president’s official visit to Uzbekistan.  

A forum of representatives of business communities of the two countries also took place in Tashkent on June 2.  The event participants discussed ways to expand cooperation.  An amount of 75 new documents signed during the forum exceeds 1 billion U.S. dollars.
