Tajik air company expected to carry Russian Hajj pilgrims to Medina

Tajikistan’s privately owned air company Somon Air is expected to carry Russian Hajj pilgrims from Russia’s Dagestan Republic to Media.

An official source at Somon Air has confirmed this information.

“We have a preliminary agreement on this issue, which is currently under consideration,” the source said.

He refrained from giving further details.  

Meanwhile, TASS, citing Bulat Kurbanov, Director-General of Marwa Tour Company, which offers people  performance of Hajj & Umrah pilgrimages, says there have been difficulties this year with organizing direct flights from Makhachkala due to sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.  

However, these issues have been resolved thanks to the involvement of the Tajik airline in the carriage of pilgrims, Kurbanov was quoted as saying by TASS

More than 4,500 residents of Dagestan are able to perform Hajj this year.
