Date:

Two Uzbek women have been detained at the Bekabad border crossing point (BCP) on the Uzbek-Tajik border in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region for an attempt to carry undeclared 356,000 U.S. dollars to Tajikistan.

According to the press service of Uzbekistan’s National Security Service (NSS)’s directorate for Tashkent region, two women from Bekabad were detained at the border crossing point on the Uzbek-Tajik border on June 14 for an attempt to smuggle US$356,000 into Tajikistan.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them and an investigation is under way.

The preliminary investigation has reportedly established that Tajik national named Mahmoud asked them to smuggle that money into Tajikistan for a fee.
