Asia-Plus

All restaurants of the McDonald's chain in Kazakhstan have suspended operations in the country for technical reasons.

Nur.kz says that from the night of July 4, Kazakhstanis began to report that restaurants of McDonald’s chain in country began to cancel orders and on July 5, they were closed across the country.

They explained this for "technical reasons", but did not provide details and promised to inform when the restaurants would reopen.

McDonald's started operating in Kazakhstan in 2016.  Now there are 23 chain restaurants in the country, they are located in six cities: Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Aktobe, and Atyrau.

McDonald's was among the American chains that closed operations in Russia amid the so-called “special military operation” launched by Russia in Ukraine.  The fast-food chain, which had operated in Russia for 30 years after the fall of the Soviet Union, sold its business in Russia to Alexander Govor, the co-founder of Neftekhimservice, who ran 25 McDonald's restaurants in Siberia.
