Hundreds of sheep died falling into an abyss in Shahrinav district, not far from Pariyon Lake area in the Qaratogh Gorge, about 70 kilometers west of Dushanbe.
The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan says that according to the preliminary data, they were swept into the abyss by a landslide.
An official source within the Emergencies Committee says a shepherd has informed the Shahrinav emergency management agency of the accident that took place on July 15.
Meanwhile, a video showing hundreds of dead sheep has appeared on the social network. Explanation to the video notes that “at night wolves attacked the flock, and sheep frightened and not orienting themselves in the dark jumped into the abyss.”
