204,750 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Tajikistan today morning, the press center of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP) reports.

These doses of the Pfizer vaccine to fight COVID-19 have reportedly been delivered to the country  through the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX) facility.

Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has reportedly received about 2 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, about 900,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and more than 1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In all, more than 15 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to the country through the COVAZ facility since the vaccination campaign was launched in Tajikistan.

In Tajikistan, COVID-19 vaccination is compulsory for people aged 18 and over; in all, 5,826,301 people in Tajikistan must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

A MoHSPP says at 94percent (5,263,527 people) of the country’s adult population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to date, and at least 92/2 percent (5,158,348 people) of Tajikistan’s adult population has got both COVID-19 vaccine shots as of July 1, 2022.

A COVID-19 revaccination campaign was launched in Tajikistan in January this year.  Revaccination is the act of administering a vaccine again some period after an initial vaccination especially to strengthen or renew the immune response.

4,104,007 people (73.3 percent of the country’s adult population) have reportedly received the third dose to date.
