International Bank of Tajikistan gets institutional rating from MFR agency

The International Bank of Tajikistan (IBT) has got institutional rating from MicroFinanza Rating agency (Italy).  Press release issued by IBT says the rating of this category is assigned to the most reliable financial institutions.

The institutional rating is an effective management and reporting tool.  It is used to compare the practices and performance of a financial service provider with international standards and benchmarks.  

The Bank was reportedly awarded a high institutional rating of "α", which recognizes the bank as a stable and financially stable organization focused on long-term relationships with customers.   

MFR is a global rating agency specialized in inclusive and sustainable finance.

MFR provides independent ratings, certifications and high quality information aiming at enhancing transparency, facilitating investments and promoting responsible practices of the sector worldwide. MFR clients are mainly investors, regulators and banks (mostly in microfinance, SME and digital finance), working to achieve financial inclusion and sustainable development.

Created in 2000 within the mother company MicroFinanza Srl, MFR was spun off as an independent company in 2006. Headquartered in Italy, MFR operates through a network of regional (Ecuador, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic) and country offices (Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines) across 4 continents, boasting a vast geographical coverage. 

The Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) “The International Bank of Tajikistan” that was established in April 2014 as the microfinance organization “Standart Moliya” (Standard Finance), which was upgraded into a commercial bank on February 29, 2016.

The bank’s stakeholders reportedly include a private company and a group of nationals of Tajikistan.

The IBT, with headquarters in Dushanbe, currently has nine branches and twelve banking service centers in several districts and cities across the country.

The Bank now  works with international payment systems VISA and Union Pay and the national payment system Korti Milli.
