Tajikistan intends to double or triple farm produce exports to Russia’s Sverdlovsk oblast next year

Date:

Tajikistan plans to double or triple farm produce exports to Russia’s Sverdlovsk oblast in 2023.  Deputy Head of the Consultative Council at the General Consulate of Tajikistan in Yekaterinburg, Yaqubjon Umarov, stated this in an interview with TASS.

According to him, a delegation of the Export Development Agency under the Government of Tajikistan has visited Yekaterinburg recently.  “Tajikistan is interested in increasing farm produce exports to the Sverdlovsk oblast and Tajikistan’s Khatlon province is ready to sign a cooperation agreement with it,” Umarov noted.

“For the purpose of increasing turnover a special refrigerated hangar is being built in Tajikistan,” said Umarov.  “Refrigerators are needed so that the crop does not spoil, and from there it would be sent here [Sverdlovsk oblast].”

Over the first six months of this year, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Russia’s Ural Federal District has valued at more than 70 million U.S. dollars, which is 125 percent more than in the same period last year.

In 2021, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russia’s Sverdlovsk oblast valued at 50 million U.S. dollars.

Ural Federal District is one of the eight federal districts of Russia.  The district was established on May 13, 2000 by a decree of the President of Russia. It is located at the border of the European and Asian parts of Russia.  The administrative center of the district is the city of Yekaterinburg.
