Over the past the past week, the Russian ruble has lost 3.05 percent of its value against the Tajik national currency, the somoni – from 1:0.164 on October 10 to 1:0.159 on October 17.
Meanwhile, the official exchange rates of the dollar and the euro against the somoni have remained unchanged over the reporting period — 1:10.2185 and 1:9.9493, respectively.
Experts attribute the depreciation of the Russian ruble against the somoni to an unexpected strengthening of the dollar and the euro in the course of trading at the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) last week: the exchange rate of the dollar against the ruble rose from 1:54 to `1:63 and the exchange rate of the euro rose from 1:58 to 1:62.
Russian experts explain this with the aggravation of geopolitics and new sanctions being prepared by the West against the Russian Federation.
