Tajikistan declares its willingness to use Iran’s technologies in transport, logistics

On the sidelines of launching a freight train from Tajikistan to Turkiye on a new route through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran's territories, transport officials of Iran and Tajikistan met to advance transport cooperation and exchange transport technologies, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported on October 24.

During the visit of Iran's transport delegation to Dushanbe to attend the launching ceremony of a multimodal transport corridor along Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Turkiye's territories, transport officials of Iran and Tajikistan reportedly held different meetings.

During his visit, Iran’s Deputy Transport Minister, Shahriyar Afandizadeh, reportedly met with the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan and presented Iran's capabilities and smart technologies in transport and logistics.

During the joint meeting, Tajikistan's minister expressed preparedness of its country to transit freight from Iran's territory.  He also introduced a representative to analyze Iran's routes along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and to become acquainted with the facilities and costs. So, a Tajik delegation is expected to pay a visit to Iran's transport projects before long.

Additionally, Tajikistan reportedly declared its willingness to use Iran new technologies in rail and road transport and logistics.

Noteworthy, the first freight train from Tajikistan transited through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran's territories to destination of Turkiye and the launching ceremony was held in Dushanbe on October 17, according to ISNA.

Recall, the international conference entitled “Logistics and Its Advantages in Development of Transport Links between Tajikistan and the Countries of the Region” took place in Dushanbe on October 18-19.

A new route for transportation of goods from China to Turkiye through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran was presented at the conference.  Cargoes are expected to be delivered along the new route by different modes of transport: trains; trucks; ships; and aircraft.
