Tajik president, Egyptian prime minister meet in Sharm al-Sheikh to discuss cooperation

On Monday November 7, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Sharm al Sheikh, Egypt with the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

During the meeting that took place on the sidelines of COP27, the parties reportedly discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Egypt, as well as cooperation between the two countries within regional and international organizations. 

Rahmon, in particular, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the host country for the invitation to participate in the work of the high-level summit and for the warm welcome.

The parties reportedly prospects of further expansion of economic, trade and investment cooperation between Tajikistan and Egypt.

It was considered necessary to stir up the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation. 

Sectors like mining, energy, transportation, agriculture, and tourism were reportedly outlined as area, which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

The parties also exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest, including the fight against terrorism and extremism and the spread of extremist ideas, the problematics of Afghanistan, which has become an urgent issue and a concern of the whole world.
