A woman in Tashkent oblast attacks an employee of the district power supply organization with knife

Asia-Plus

Uzbek media reports say a woman in Tashkent oblast has attacked an employee of the district power supply organization with knife demanding he turn on the electricity in the houses.

Podrpbno.uz reports that video showing a woman threatening a man with a knife in the building of the power supply organization in Tashkent was shared on social media yesterday.

In the footage, she puts a knife to the throat of a man demanding he turn on electricity.  In response, the employee answers her: “Cut if you want.”

Some media outlets reported last month that several regions of Uzbekistan including the capital city are facing power outage due to a decline of gas supplies to the thermal power stations that generate around 90% of electricity in the country.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Zhurabek Mirzamahmudov noted in December that the current weather conditions demand the introduction of planned outages to prevent more serious consequences.  The minister noted that planned power outages across the country are inevitable.
