Tajik capital hosts handicraft festival

A handicraft festival is taking place in Dushanbe on February 14.  A wining ceremony for best craftspeople will take place on the sidelines of the festival, according to the Dushanbe Administration.

More than 30 craftspeople from Dushanbe’s four districts will put display their achievements in carpentry, painting, pottery, sewing, textile and metal processing.

The festival is taking place in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi Park and best craftspeople will be selected in six nominations. 

An exhibition of exhibition of folk crafts and handicrafts is taking part on the sidelines of the festival.

The festival organizers say the main objective of the festival is in developing national identity, instilling respect for national culture, educating aesthetic taste, and promoting national dress.  

Besides, the organizers reportedly aim to attract foreign tourists to the country and the exhibition of folk

The event is being held in the framework of the second round of the Festival of Craftspeople of Tajikistan and the exhibition of folk crafts entitled “Craft Is More Precious than Gold”.
