A man with mental disabilities suspected of setting fire to two mosques in Tursunzoda

The Committee on Religious Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan (CRA) has written on its Facebook page that a man with mental disabilities is suspected of setting fire to two five-time mosques in two villages subordinate to the city of Tursunzoda.

Fires reportedly broke out in two five-time mosques in the villages of Ziyorattut and Sangqala of in Navobod jamoat, which is subordinate to the city of Tursunzoda, at around 8:00 am of April 28.

The mosque in Ziyorattut village was destroyed completely by the fire and the mosque in Sangqala village was damaged partially.  

The CRA says investigation has established that the fires were set to the mosques by the 32-year-old resident of Tursunzoda city Dilshod Botirov, who suffers from a mental illness.
