Tajikistan authorities tighten inspection of LNG refueling stations in Dushanbe

Asia-Plus

Tajikistan authorities have tightened control of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling stations in Dushanbe and nearby districts after recent blast at the LNG refueling station in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district.

Residents of the neighborhood unit, where that LNG refueling station is local, say they have been having difficulties with refilling their gas cylinders for already several days after the explosion that occurred at the LNG refueling station on April 28.

“Many gas refueling stations have  stopped refilling cylinders, and now we have to look for where to refuel,” a Dushanbe resident told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, gas station owners say the stations are being inspected for compliance with fire safety measures.

This information has not yet been officially confirmed, but always in case of emergency at gas stations, the Interior Ministry fire service have carried out mass raids to inspect gas stations for compliance with fuel storage rules.

An explosion occurred at the Soro Oil-operated gas station in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district on April 28.  The blast was reportedly caused due to non-compliance with fire safety rules while pumping liquefied natural gas from a vehicle car into a tank.

As a result of explosion, a woman was killed.  She stood on the balcony and she was blasted to the ground.
