Afghan shopkeepers worried about decrease in their sales on eve of Eid al-Adha

Asia-Plus

Afghan media reports say a number of local shopkeepers complain that financial conditions are not good and sales are low on the eve of Eid al-Adha,

There are less than five days left until this year's Eid al-Adha, but some shopkeepers reportedly say that their sales have decreased compared to previous years.

“Last Eid people bought dry fruit and for this Eid they have some of it so they came and buy just half a kilogram,” Abdul Basir, a shopkeeper, was quoted as saying by TOLOnews.

Clothing sellers are also worried about a decrease in their sales.

TOLOnews quoted a shopkeeper Atiqullah as saying that this Eid people have economic issues so they use the clothes that they bought for last Eid.

"People buy clothes two days before Eid so for now our sales have not started yet," said Jawad, a shopkeeper.

Meanwhile, some Kabul residents said that due to the high price of dry fruit, they are not able to buy it for Eid.

Various international organizations have expressed concern over the bad economic situation in Afghanistan.

According to numbers of international organizations, more than half of the population of the country is faced with hunger.
