Russian lawmakers propose to allot lands to families after 10 years of marriage for housing free of charge

Members of Russia’s lower house (State Duma) of parliament from the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPT) have worked out a bill providing for allotting lands to families being married for more than 10 years for housing free of charge.

Russian media reports, citing the State Duma, say the proposal to allot land plots for housing construction is aimed at the transition from “thoughtless urbanization” to the development of modern low-rise buildings outside the city, sky specified.

Leader of LDPR’s faction in the State Duma, Leonid Slutsky, said: “If we do this, then instead of developing a few megacities in Russia that draw people in, we will get the opportunity to develop the entire territory of the country.”

Lawmakers are expected to submit amendments to the State Duma after receiving the government’s decision within 30 days.

Recall, Russian President Vladimir Putin in June recommended that local governments, with the exception of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sevastopol, provide land plots to participants in the special operation who have awards.  The order of the head of state says that we are talking about military personnel, volunteers, servicemen of the National Guard who have special police ranks, the title of Hero of the Russian Federation or the Order for merit shown during the special operation.

The document proposes that the participants in the special operation transfer free of charge plots that are in state or municipal ownership.

At the beginning of the year, it was also reported that a group of parliamentarians, including senators Andrei Turchak, Viktor Bondarev, Daria Lantratova (all United Russia), would introduce amendments to the State Duma that would allow the Heroes of Russia to receive plots for farming and transfer these “preferential” land by inheritance.
