The Governmental complex will consist of one 15-story building and two 13-story buildings and its total area will be 10.27 hectares.

Recall, China has allotted 1.5 billion yuans (equivalent to about 220 million U.S. dollars) in no-strings aid to Tajikistan for construction of the parliament complex and the new building for the Tajik government.

An agreement on awarding this grant was signed in September 2017 during President Emomali Rahmon’s state visit to Beijing.

A year later, Tajikistan and China signed a government-to-government agreement on providing additional grant aid to Tajikistan in the amount of 900 million yuans (equivalent to 129.5 million U.S. dollars) for preparation and implementation of the project on constructing these buildings as well a number of energy, infrastructure development, culture and education projects.

President Emomali Rahmon and the then Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang took part in ceremonies to lay the foundation stones to the new buildings of Parliament and Government of Tajikistan in Dushanbe on October 13, 2018.
