Emomali Rahmon in Kazahstan: agreements with Tokayev and a visit to the largest mosque

Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are strengthening relations through expanding cooperation, Emomali Rahmon said during a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassim-Jomart Tokayev.

During the official talks between the heads of the two republics in Astana, the priority of expanding ties was emphasized. Emomali Rahmon expressed his conviction that the level of mutual understanding, respect and trust between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan has reached a high level.

Emomali Rahmon stressed that further expansion of relations with Kazakhstan remains a priority of Tajikistan's foreign policy.

The parties expressed mutual gratitude for the support provided in organizing and holding various events, such as the Days of Culture of Tajikistan and exhibitions and fairs of Tajik products of the agricultural and industrial sectors in major cities of Kazakhstan.

The discussion of such events highlights the constant development of strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, as well as the strengthening of mutual ties and cooperation in various fields, Emomali Rahmon said.

During the talks, attention was paid to the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, as well as trade turnover between the two countries, the volume of which reached almost $ 600 million in just six months of this year.

The President of Tajikistan noted that Kazakhstan today occupies a leading position in the overall system of foreign economic relations of Tajikistan.

Confidence was expressed that the parties are quite capable of achieving annual bilateral trade figures of up to $2 billion in the near future.

On Friday evening, the leaders took part in the opening ceremony of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Days of Culture of Tajikistan in major cities of Kazakhstan are the first large-scale cultural and humanitarian event of this level during the years of state independence of the two countries, held on the initiative and with the direct support of the leaders of the two countries, the press service notes.

Before the start of the cultural program, the heads of state of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan visited the exhibition of folk crafts of Tajikistan in the lobby of the State Opera and Ballet Theater "Astana Opera".

As part of the Days from August 24 to 29, concert programs, exhibitions of artisans, screenings of photographs and paintings, national Tajik clothing, art and historical films will be held in the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent.

Today, on August 26, Emomali Rahmon together with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the central mosque of Astana, the press service of the head of state reports.

The Central Mosque of the capital of Kazakhstan, the construction of which was started on March 18, 2019, was commissioned on August 12, 2022.

It is built on an area of 10 hectares, the total area of the buildings is 68 thousand square meters. The mosque consists of four towers with a height of 130 meters. One tower is designed for tourists to explore the surrounding area.

In addition to prayer halls, the mosque also has classrooms, conference rooms, workers, maintenance, technical offices and a museum.

 

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, after familiarizing himself with the conditions for worshippers, highly appreciated the quality of the work and wished Kazakhstan prosperity.
