Emomali Rahmon spoke with General Sahir Shamshod about the prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan

On August 28, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon welcomed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Sahir Shamshod.

The current situation, prospects of relations and diverse cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan, including in the fields of security and defense, were discussed at the meeting, the press service of the head of state reports.

The sides noted that significant cooperation has been established between Tajikistan and Pakistan in political, trade and economic spheres, including energy, transport and communications, as well as in the cultural, humanitarian and security spheres.

Emomali Rahmon, noting the partnership between the two countries in the field of security and defense, regarded the constant contacts of representatives of industry structures as mutually beneficial and meeting the interests of the two countries.

"The parties also talked about the alarming processes of our time, stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in the areas of combating terrorism, production and illicit drug trafficking, transnational crime, etc.," the press service reports

Emomali Rahmon and Sahir Shamshod exchanged views on relevant international and regional issues.
