Over the first eight months of this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover amounted to 4,571,900,000 U.S. dollars, which is 4.9 percent, or 236.5 million US dollars, fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Over the reporting period, the trade balance was negative, amounting to 2,834,900,000 U.S. dollars.
The Agency for Statistics says that in January-August this year, Tajikistan had trade relations with 104 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.
Exports of goods over the first eight months have amounted to 868.5 million U.S. dollars, which is 42.6 percent, or 644.7 million U.S. dollars, less than in January-August last year.
Over the reporting period, the country’s exports included mainly mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, coals) – 45.4 percent, textile fabrics and textile products – 17.4 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 22.8 percent, products of plant origin – 3.7 percent, products of chemical industry – 2.6 percent, machinery and equipment – 4.6 percent, other goods – 3.5 percent.
In January-August, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: Kazakhstan – 22.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; China – 19.9 percent; Turkiye – 12.2 percent; Uzbekistan – 12.1 percent; Russia – 11 percent; Afghanistan – 8.1 percent; Iran – 6.3 percent; the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 1.5 percent; Singapore and Italy – 1.2 percent; the Virgin Islands — 1.1 percent each; and others.
Imports of goods into the country over the reporting period have amounted to 3,703,400,000 U.S. dollars, which is 12.4 percent, or 408.2 million U.S. dollars, more than in January-August last year.
Over the first eight months of this year, the main items of Tajikistan’s imports period were: mineral products – 16.5; machinery and equipment – 14; products of chemical industry – 8.5 percent; non-ferrous metals and products made from them – 9.8 percent; products of plant origin – 7.6 percent; finished food products – 8.0 percent; fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin – 2.4 percent, polymer materials, rubber and products of them – 3.5 percent; wood and wood products – 4.2 percent, other goods – 25.5 percent.
In January-August this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 27.4 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 20.9 percent; Kazakhstan – 14.8 percent; Uzbekistan – 5.7 percent; the United States – 4.4 percent; Turkiye and Germany – 3.4 percent; Japan – 3.1 percent; Iran – 2.7 percent; ; the republic of Korea – 1.8 percent; India – 1.6 percent; Belarus – 1.5 percent; Pakistan – 1.1 percent; and others.
