Tajikistan is in the second place globally in terms of the import wheat from Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan’s APK Novosti news agency, citing the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, reports that over the first ten months (January-October) of this year, Kazakhstan has exported 3.885 million tons of wheat (24-percent increase compared to the same period last year. In January-October last year, Kazakhstan exported 3.131 million tons of wheat).
Of this amount, 2.726 million tons of wheat have reportedly been delivered to the CIS member nations (29-percent increase).
The largest volume has reportedly been shipped to Uzbekistan – 1.976 million tons (40-percent increase).
APK Novosti notes that Tajikistan is in the second place with a volume of 404,000 tons (12-percent increase)
Turkmenistan is third place – 230,000 tons (19-percent increase).
Among the CIS member nations, Turkmenistan is followed by Azerbaijan – 104,000 tons (14-percent decrease), Russia – 9,900 tons (62-percent decrease), and Kyrgyzstan – 1,000 tons (56-percent decrease).
As for the rest of the world, the largest markets during this period were in Afghanistan, China, Italy and Turkey.
Over the same ten-month period, 322,000 tons of wheat have been delivered to Afghanistan (24-percent increase compared to January-October 2022), China – 249,000 tons of wheat (last year, Kazakhstan did not export wheat to this country), Italy – 226,000 tons (47-percent increase), and Turkiye – 156,000 tons (54-percent increase).
Besides, small amounts have been delivered to Tunisia – 72,000 tons; Iran – 54,000 tons, Latvia – 34,000 tons, Spain – 19,000 tons, and Sweden – 10,000 tons.
Even less has been shipped to Poland – 5,500, Norway – 4,500 tons, and Greece – 3,000 tons.
The minimum volumes have been delivered to the Netherlands – 430 tons, Germany – 109 tons, and Mongolia – 20 tons.
Meanwhile, according to data from the Food Safety Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, more than 439,000 tons of wheat has been imported into the country over the first six months year, which is 83,500 tons more than in the same period last year.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Tajikistan this year has planted cereals on the area of more than 392,000 hectares, which is 1,800 hectares more than last year.
Over the first six months of this year, Tajik farmers have reportedly produced 705,200 tons of cereals, including wheat, rice and corn, which is 2.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), all categories of farms will harvest 1.6 millions of cereals this year, including 975,000 tons of wheat, and 1.1 million of potatoes.
