Russia’s Consul General in Khujand replaced

Sergei Lankin has become the new Consul General of the Russian Federation in Khujand, the capital of Tajikistan’s Sughd province.

The Russian MFA’s official website says  that prior to the appointment, Sergei Lankin served as the First Secretary of Russia’s Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel.   .

Lankin reportedly replaced Andrey Varlamov, who headed Russia’s Consulate General in Khujand from 2018 to early October of 2023.  

Sergei Lankin, 60, has been in the diplomatic service since 2008.  He has served in the Russian MFA’s central office and in diplomatic missions abroad.  

In 2019-2023, he served as the First Secretary, Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel.

In 2008-2014, Lankin served as the Second Secretary of the Russian MFA’s Office in Blagoveshchensk.

Sergei Lankin has a diplomatic rank of 2nd grade Counsellor.
