Rahmon holds phone talks with his Kazakh counterpart Tokayev to discuss cooperation

President Emomali Rahmon held phone talks with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the evening of April 12. 

The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed the situation related to spring floods in a number of regions of Kazakhstan.

Emomali Rahmon reportedly expressed Tajikistan’s support for “the brotherly people of Kazakhstan in connection with large-scale floods in that country.”

Tajik leader, recalling the necessary effective and timely measures of the Government of Kazakhstan to prevent the spread and reduce the consequences of the natural disaster, expressed confidence that its consequences will be eliminated in a short time.

In this regard, the President of Tajikistan emphasized that he has already tasked the Government of the country to immediately prepare humanitarian aid consisting of food and basic necessities to be sent to the affected regions of Kazakhstan.

In the continuation of the conversation, the heads of states reportedly discussed the issues related to the state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan and emphasized the determination of the parties to continue the close cooperation between the two countries in various forms.

In the course of the talks, the parties also exchanged views on the program of upcoming meetings at the bilateral and multilateral levels, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
