Emomali Rahmon meets with chief prosecutors of ECO members nations

Date:

President Emomali Rahmon today morning received the chief prosecutors and heads of the delegations of the member nations of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the meeting of the general prosecutors of the Organization member nations.

The Tajik president’s official website says Emomali Rahmon first welcomed the guests to Tajikistan and wished success in their meeting.

During his speech, Tajik leader, along with accentuating Tajikistan's continuous interest in cooperation within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization, reportedly reflected on the valuable contribution of the member countries to the important areas of this organization’s activities.

“We always emphasize that peace and stability in the ECO region is a key factor for achieving the Organization's main goal, namely economic development and people's well-being,” Emomali Rahmon said.

At the same time, he reportedly mentioned the broad economic potential within the framework of the ECO, and stressed the role of the prosecuting bodies in performing the very responsible tasks of monitoring compliance with the laws and, in this context, ensuring the rule of law, protecting sovereignty, independence, human and civil rights and freedoms, democratic values and interests of state and society.

Tajik president focused on the complex political situation in the world, the increase in threats to the security of countries, the catastrophic consequences of terrorism, manifestations of extremism and political and religious radicalism, transnational organized crime, as well as the subversive actions of extremist movements, and considered it necessary to continue close cooperation among the member countries, especially their branch organs.

Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Tajikistan is a natural partner of all countries in the fight against organized transnational crimes, including cybercrimes and trafficking in drugs and weapons.

The Tajik president’s official website notes that the meeting was also attended by the Attorney General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saud bin Abdullah al-Mujib, who was invited as a guest.
