Tajikistan and Uzbekistan cancel permit forms for transit transportation

Asia-Plus

Tajik cargo carriers complain about the protracted process of entry of an agreement between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on abolition of transit license into force.

Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have canceled the requirement for permit forms for transit cargo transportation.

A protocol on making amendments to the government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on international motor traffic dated March 9, 2018 was signed in April during a state visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan on April 18-19 this year.

The press center of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan says the abolition of permits reduces delivery time and reduces the risk of cargo damage.

For transit cargo transportation, the requirement for permission forms (permissions) is canceled.

The Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan notes that the changes will come into force after ratification of the document by both countries.

Today, 1,200 transit cargo transportations are reportedly carried out annually across the territories of the two countries.
