Tajikistan communications service agency says revenues of mobile phone companies operating in Tajikistan have exceed 1 billion somonis (92 million US dollars) over the first three months of year, which is 58.9 million somonis or 6.2 percent more than in the same period last year.
As far as private mobile phone companies operating in Tajikistan are concerned, they have reportedly earned more than 937.2 million somonis (about 86 million US dollars) over the reporting period, which is 3.9 percent more than in January-March last year.
Meanwhile, the revenues of the national telecom operator Tojiktelecom, State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Pochtai Tojik (Tajik Post) as well as other divisions the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan over the same three-month period have amounted to 63.6 million somonis over the first quarter of this year (57-percent increase compared to January-March last year, when they earned 40.6 million somonis).
As of April 1, 2024, a total number of Internet users in Tajikistan was about 4.2 million people (both mobile internet and fixed broadband internet).
As of April 1, 2024, a total number of mobile communications subscribers in the country was 6.7 million people.
Tajikistan routinely ranks toward the bottom of international standings in terms of Internet speed and prices offered by Internet service providers (ISPs).
As of April 1, 2024, the Speedtest Global Index ranks Tajikistan 140th among 144 countries in terms of mobile Internet speed and 129th among 181 counties in terms of fixed broadband internet speed.
Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2023 (measured June to September 2023) ranks Tajikistan 142nd among 237 countries in terms of the cost of 1 GB of mobile data. In Tajikistan, an average price for 1GB of mobile data is US$1.65.
