Tajik leader participates in farewell and condolence ceremony due to the death of Iran’s president

On Wednesday May 22, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon arrived in Iran’s capital, Tehran, to participate in the farewell and condolence ceremony due to the tragic death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi, says the Tajik president’s official website.

High-ranking representatives and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran reportedly welcomed the honored guest – the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the Tehran International Airport.

Emomali Rahmon participated in the mourning ceremony for the victims of the tragedy – President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi and his companions.

He expressed deep sympathy to the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Honorable Mohammad Mokhber, the people of Iran, and the relatives of the martyrs.

While expressing his condolences, Emomali Rahmon mentioned the valuable role of the deceased Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi in expanding and deepening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iranian media reports say some 68 officials from 50 foreign countries attended the funeral procession in Tehran to pay tribute to the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and the accompanying delegation.

The ceremony took place at the Iran International Conference Center in the north of Tehran yesterday. 

IRNA says the Emir of Qatar, the national leader of Turkmenistan, the presidents of Tunisia and Tajikistan, and the prime ministers of Iraq, Pakistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Syria are among the senior officials who attended the funeral procession in Tehran and offered condolences to Mohammad Mokhber, the Vice President of Iran.

Recall, President Ebrahim Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Governor of East Azarbaijan Province Malek Rahmati, head of Raeisi’s bodyguard team Mehdi Mousavi, and Iranian Leader’s representative in the province Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, were killed in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province in northwest Iran on May 19.
