Tajikistan, China sign agreements worth over TJS6 billion at trade and investment forum in Dushanbe

Tajikistan and China have signed agreements worth more than 6 billion somonis (TJS) during a trade and investment forum held in Dushanbe on June 21.

According to the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management of Tajikistan (GosKomInvest), the event, which was organized by GosKomInvest in collaboration with Tajikistan’s Ministries of Economic Development and Trade and Industry and New Technologies as well as China’s Embassy in Dushanbe, reportedly brought together more than 150 entrepreneurs and investors from both countries.

Key agreements signed at the forum include: construction of an iron ore processing plant at the Shohqadambuloq mine; supply and installation of international-level structures during the construction of the Dushanbe city stadium with 3000 seats; provision of electric vehicles for taxi services; credit line for the purchase of special machinery and production equipment; processing of decorative stone at Dushanbe-based enterprise; construction of a logistics center in Tajikistan; construction of a metallurgical plant for the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) Talco Gold; and some others with a total value exceeding TJS6 billion.  

Currently, there are 600 companies with Chinese capital operating in Tajikistan.  Over the past decade, Chinese investments in the Tajik economy have exceeded US$3.8 billion.
