Over 50 public organizations shut down in Tajikistan in H1 this year

Date:

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Asadullo Hakimzoda, revealed on August 7 that 53 public organizations have been shut down in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year.

Three of them – Equal Opportunities, Parvin and Nouri Umed Istaravshan – have been closed by a court decision.

Hakimzoda noted that inspections carried out over the reporting period had revealed "serious deficiencies" in the activities of these organizations, which led to the decision to close them. One of the deficiencies he mentioned was a “failure to comply with the statutory goals of the organization.”

The remaining 50 organizations, according to him, have been closed voluntarily, mainly due to a lack of funding for continued operations.

At the same time, according to the Ministry of Justice, 48 new public organizations have been registered in the country over the same six-month period.

Official data shows that more than 2,000 public organizations now operate in Tajikistan.
