A major enterprise for the processing and production of cast iron will be constructed in the northern province of Sughd. The plant is being built by the Tajik Metallurgical Combine, the press center of the Sughd administration says.
Sughd governor, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, visited the construction site for the cast iron production plant located in Shoqadambuloq area, Bobojon-Ghafourov district.
Exploratory work at the mine in this location has already been completed, and construction of the facility has commenced.
"A large industrial enterprise will be constructed to achieve the fourth strategic goal—accelerated industrialization of the country," the report highlights.
It is expected that the enterprise will employ up to 1,000 people.
The governor was reportedly informed that the area contains several deposits, and at the first stage, the Shaqadambuloq deposit will be utilized. This deposit is one of the largest in the province, containing up to 48 million tons of raw material reserves.
The production process consists of three stages—extraction, construction, and production, with the final product being iron. The plant will have the capacity to process up to 1 million tons of raw materials annually.
The plant's equipment is being imported from China and installed with the involvement of Chinese specialists.
During his discussion with the plant's builders and local residents, Ahmadzoda reportedly stated that in honor of the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, over 12,000 facilities are planned to be built in Sughd province, and hundreds of new enterprises will also be introduced into operation.
It should be noted that the Tajik Metallurgical Combine has been operating in Hisor district (central Tajikistan) since November 2016. The combine consists of six production workshops, including workshops for finished products, casting, purification, and others. The enterprise's mineral processing capacity is up to 200,000 tons per year.
