Tajik Air plans to launch flights to Vanj, Rasht, and Lakhsh districts

Date:

In 2025, Tajik Air intends to expand its domestic flight network by adding new routes from Dushanbe to Rasht and Lakhsh districts in Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan and Vanj district in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous region (GBAO)), company CEO Parviz Shodmonzoda told reporters in Dushanbe on January 31.

According to him, renovation work is currently underway at Rasht and Lakhsh airports, aimed at improving infrastructure and creating more comfortable conditions for passengers.

To support these new flights and expand its fleet, the company has overhauled an Antonov-28 aircraft, which is now operating on domestic routes.  Two more aircraft are scheduled for repairs in the near future.

At present, the airline has already resumed several domestic flights:

·         Dushanbe – Khorog (since October 3, 2024)

·         Dushanbe – Kulob (since January 15, 2025)

·         Dushanbe – Panjakent (since January 24, 2025)

Since the launch of flights to Khorog, 30 flights have reportedly been completed, serving around 1,000 passengers.

Regarding high ticket prices for domestic routes, Shodmonzoda noted that operating these flights is currently costly, and passenger demand does not always justify expenses.  However, he emphasized that it is too early to assess the profitability of these routes, and a clearer evaluation will be available by mid-year.

As of now, ticket prices for domestic flights are approximately:

·         900 somonis for Dushanbe – Khorog

·         400 somonis for Dushanbe – Panjakent

·         300 somonis for Dushanbe – Kulob
