In the Sabzazor locality of the Langari Shok rural jamoat in the Tojikobod district, construction of new homes for 30 families whose houses were completely destroyed during the earthquake on April 13 has begun.
The state-run news agency Khovar says four-room houses with all living conditions will be built on plots of land of 12 hundred square meters each. Work has already begun on dividing the household plots, leveling the land, and preparing it for construction.
All destroyed homes will be rebuilt with the involvement of state funds and entrepreneurs. Additionally, construction materials, including cement, plates, rebar, and others, have been sent to the Rasht region (northeastern Tajikistan) at the expense of state material resources and have already been delivered to the affected families.
The Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Qohir Rasoulzoda, visited the region and reviewed the progress of work to mitigate the effects of the disaster. He visited the settlements where the earthquake occurred. During a meeting with the victims, it was emphasized that all destroyed and dilapidated houses would be rebuilt and commissioned with government funding, with the involvement of entrepreneurs and other patriotic citizens.
Efforts are underway in the region to restore infrastructure, agricultural plots, and social facilities.
It should be noted that as a result of the earthquake, 33 residential houses were destroyed in the Tojikobod district, 123 houses were partially damaged, and another 97 houses received minor damage. 75 auxiliary buildings were also affected.
The earthquake caused damage to 2 schools, 2 medical points, 1 regional hospital, and 1 recreation center. Additionally, agricultural lands, roads, power lines, irrigation systems, and drinking water supply networks were damaged.
The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, instructed the government commission to compile an accurate list of families affected by the earthquake in Rasht and Tojikobod districts for the provision of one-time financial assistance. The state-run insurance company, Tojiksughurta, was tasked with providing this assistance to each affected family, regardless of whether they had an insurance contract, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
At an extraordinary government meeting on April 17, the head of state also ordered the allocation of land plots in safe areas for families whose homes were damaged, to build new housing.
The authorities of Rasht and Tojikobod districts were instructed to complete the construction of new homes for families with fully destroyed houses and the corresponding infrastructure by November 1 of this year.
According to updated data, during the earthquake, a three-year-old child died, and 16 people were injured. 65 residential houses were completely destroyed, 193 were partially damaged, and 150 houses sustained minor damage. 193 auxiliary buildings, 1 regional hospital, 2 medical points, 8 educational institutions, and other facilities were also damaged.
