On May 29, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, met with the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad-Reza Aref, who arrived in Dushanbe on an official visit to participate in the First International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
The Tajik president’s official website says the meeting discussed issues related to the development and expansion of multifaceted relations between the two countries.
Emomali Rahmon reportedly expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing process of expanding bilateral relations between our countries and is interested in their further development.
Special attention was paid to trade and economic relations.

Strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy, oil and gas, international transportation, science and technology, agriculture, healthcare and other sectors were among the important issues discussed.
It was emphasized that inter-parliamentary relations play a significant role in expanding multifaceted cooperation.
The two countries' commitment to enhancing cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was stressed.
In this context, the experience of supporting each other's initiatives within these organizations was highly appreciated, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Meanwhile Iran’s IRNA reports that Tajik leader expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors and emphasized the importance of swiftly implementing agreements and signed documents in bilateral relations.
He reportedly also said that that the visa waiver has significantly contributed to the growth of tourism between the two countries and stressed that preserving shared historical and civilizational traditions is of fundamental importance in this regard.
Earlier on the day, Aref toured the Talco Cable Industries, where a significant portion of raw materials, equipment, and machinery is supplied by the Iranian private sector, according to IRNA.
