Trump claims ‘total control’ over Iranian airspace, demands Iran’s surrender

Asia-Plus

U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the United States now holds “full and total control” over Iranian airspace, further escalating tensions in the already fragile situation in the Middle East.

Meduza reports that in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that America had surpassed Iran’s defenses with unmatched military capabilities.  “We now have full and total control over the skies of Iran,” he wrote. “Iran had good tracking systems and other defensive equipment — and in large numbers — but they are nothing compared to what is built and developed in the United States. Nobody does it better than good old America!”

Trump did not elaborate on what he meant by “control” or provide specifics about the systems or technologies involved.

His remarks follow recent Israeli reports, cited by Reuters, claiming that Israeli forces had achieved air superiority over western Iran, including Tehran.

In a subsequent post, Trump suggested that U.S. intelligence knows the location of Iran’s Supreme Leader but clarified that there are currently no plans to target him — “at least for now.”

“Our patience is running out,” Trump warned.

He later added a terse message, writing simply: “Unconditional surrender!” — an apparent ultimatum directed at the Iranian regime.

Iran on high alert

According to The New York Times, U.S. intelligence reports indicate that Iran has placed its missile forces on high alert and is preparing for the possibility of striking American bases in the Middle East, should direct conflict erupt.

Sources familiar with the matter said that Tehran may carry out immediate attacks against U.S. military installations in the region if Washington intervenes in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and Israel.  The missiles, reportedly mounted on mobile launchers, can be deployed with little warning.

Pentagon officials have also raised concerns that Iran could activate allied proxy militias in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon to target American and allied interests.

So far, there has been no official response from the Iranian government.

Diplomatic tensions continue

Meanwhile, The Jerusalem Post reports that President Trump is preparing to present Iran with final terms on reviving the nuclear deal — terms that would demand a complete halt to uranium enrichment, even for peaceful purposes.

In a possible sign of willingness to engage, The Wall Street Journal cites diplomatic sources saying Iran has signaled, via Arab intermediaries, openness to returning to the negotiating table.
