Tajik civil aviation authorities promise to lower airfare prices

Asia-Plus

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Habibullo Nazarzoda, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, revealed on July 23 that Tajikistan's civil aviation authorities plan to reduce airfare prices for both domestic and international flights in the coming months.

Nazarzoda explained that, in order to reduce ticket prices, the leadership of Dushanbe International Airport had decided to grant all airlines a 40% discount on ground handling services.

He also clarified that these measures have already led to a 20-30% reduction in fares for international airlines that have taken advantage of the discounts.

Additionally, Tajik Air Navigation has reduced its air navigation service fees, while fuel suppliers for airports have cut their prices by 20%, according to the Civil Aviation Agency head.

Nazarzoda expressed confidence that these initiatives will result in an overall reduction of 40-45% in airfares across all routes, making air travel more affordable for passengers.

At the same news conference, it was reported that, by July 22, Dushanbe International Airport had served 1,128,000 passengers, which is 12,300 fewer than during the same period last year.

Among these:

  • 604,276 passengers departed, which is 766 more than the same period in 2024, reflecting a 0.12% increase.
  • 524,295 passengers arrived, which is 13,100 fewer, representing a 2.44% decrease compared to the previous year.

The total cargo and mail volume handled and transported by the Dushanbe International Airport's cargo terminal in the first half of 2025 amounted to 578.9 tons.

During this period, there were 964 flight delays recorded, with the main reason being delays in departures from airports.

Throughout the reporting period, 15 airlines operated from Dushanbe International Airport.
