Tajikistan launches unified e-government portal and AI assistant in Tajik Language

Asia-Plus

Tajikistan is accelerating its digital transformation with the launch of the e-government portal ehukumat.tj and the introduction of Bonoor, a domestic artificial intelligence (AI) system designed to understand and respond in the Tajik language.

The developments were presented at a news conference held by the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan at IT-Park Dushanbe on August 4.  Agency Director Khurshed Faizullozoda highlighted the country’s recent achievements in digital governance and fielded questions from journalists.

ehukumat.tj: a new era in public services

The official rollout of ehukumat.tj, a centralized digital platform for accessing public services, marks a major step toward modernizing government-citizen interactions.  Since its beta launch in March 2025, the portal has attracted over 1.5 million users, with more than 280,000 online service requests submitted.

The platform allows both citizens and businesses to submit applications, track their progress, and interact directly with government agencies online.  Currently, 20 digital public services are available across categories such as transportation, education, real estate, utilities, documentation, and customs.  That number is expected to exceed 50 by the end of the year.

Users can already obtain an electronic signature, authorize vehicle management, or apply for construction permits.  The system integrates services from 45 government institutions, including ministries, agencies, and municipal offices.

Bonoor: AI that speaks Tajik

A key highlight of the event was the introduction of Bonoor, Tajikistan’s own AI system tailored for the Tajik language.   Officials noted that global AI tools like ChatGPT still struggle with Tajik, prompting the development of a localized solution.

Bonoor was showcased live at the event, responding accurately to spoken questions in Tajik.  The AI assistant demonstrated a high level of linguistic adaptation, offering clear and relevant replies — a significant milestone for Tajik-language technology.
