From Tajikistan to Japan: jiu-jitsu team sets sights on 2026 Asian Games

Asia-Plus

An official meeting between the President of the Tajikistan Jiu-Jitsu Federation (TJF), Manouchehr Karimzoda, and his Japanese counterpart, Takamasa Watanabe, has laid the groundwork for strategic cooperation ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.

Speaking to Asia-Plus, national team coach Komil Boimurodov said the agreement includes joint training camps, coaching exchanges, and access to Japan’s state-of-the-art sports facilities.

“This partnership gives our athletes the chance to train with Asia’s top experts and compete in a high-performance environment — crucial as jiu-jitsu continues to grow across the region,” Boimurodov explained.

As part of the agreement, the Japanese Jiu-Jitsu Federation has invited Tajikistan’s national team to conduct training camps in Japan and confirmed Watanabe’s visit to Tajikistan in May 2026.

The Tajikistan Jiu-Jitsu Federation views the partnership as a major step toward building a competitive team and strengthening international ties. “This focus on collaboration, high-quality preparation, and strategic planning reflects Tajikistan’s serious ambitions for the 2026 Asian Games,” Boimurodov added.
