DUSHANBE, September 11, 2008, Asia-Plus – An official ceremony of handover of 3,000 tons of low-sulphur residual oil (mazut) from UNDP CO Tajikistan to the Dushanbe heat and power station will be held on September 12.
Press release issued by the UNDP CO Tajikistan, as part of the overall response, the Government of Tajikistan undertook to increase heat and electrical production at the Dushanbe heat and power station, which provides central heating for parts of the city. Increasing heating through the central heating system would decrease the demand for electricity for heating in the areas served by the system, and also increase the overall electrical supply for heating in areas not served by the central heating system.
To support this increase in heat and electrical production, UNDP Tajikistan is handing over the fuel oil to the Dushanbe heat and power station.
