President inaugurates renovated Roudaki museum in Panjakent

DUSHANBE, September 11, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday September 10, President Emomali Rahmon attended a ceremony of inauguration of the renovated museum named after Abu Abdullo Roudaki in the northern city of Panjakent, according to presidential press service.  

880,000 somonis have been allocated for rehabilitation of the museum in Panjakent. 

The museum has eight halls and many exhibits reflecting history of ancient Sarazm and Panjakent as well as the Samanid Empire, Soviet period and the contemporary history of independent Tajikistan have been displayed in the Panjakent museum, the press service said.  

The president and guests that arrived in Panjakent to attend celebrations to mark the 1,150th birthday anniversary of founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature Abu Abdullo Roudaki yesterday also visited exhibitions of works by local handicraftsmen. 

The same day, a theatrical show and a festive concert with participation of known Tajik singers was held at the Panjakent central stadium.
