DUSHANBE, September 11, 2008, Asia-Plus — The first session of the coordination council of heads of the emergency management agencies from member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on September 12, according to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES).
The CES head, Major-General Khaybullo Latipov, will represent Tajikistan at the session, which is supposed to result in signing of a number of cooperation documents.
The CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha and delegation heads will deliver statements at the session, which will consider issues related to creation of a common database, interaction between psychology support, firefighting and rescue services as well as regulations on a working group within the coordination council.
The source at a CES said that the Bishkek session is expected to end with adoption of documents on the priority areas of actions the CSTO member nations on formation of an emergency response system for the period till 2012 and giving a status of basic research centers to a number of organizations dealing with prevention and liquidation of the emergency situations.
We will recall that a document on the formation of the council on extraordinary situations was adopted at a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Dushanbe in October 2007.
