DUSHANBE, September 10, 2008, Asia-Plus — A 23-year-old resident of Dushanbe Dilshod Elbekov has been detained by officers from police department 2 in Dushanbe’s Sino district on suspicion of stealing 16,570 somonis’ worth of jewelry from the Rembyttekhnika plant in Dushanbe in May 2007, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for a MoI, said that part of stolen jewelry had been found in Elbekov’s home.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Elbekov and an investigation is under way.
