DUSHANBE, July 15, 2014, Asia-Plus – Chinese company, Shan Zho (phonetically spelled), reportedly intends to construct a large cement plant in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
This issue was discussed at a meeting of GBAO governor Shodikhon Jamshed with Shan Zho director-general Byan Tson Liin (phonetically spelled) that took place in Khorog, the capital of Gorno-Badakhshan on July 14.

reports that Shan Zho noted that his company intended to invest 600 million U.S. dollars in construction of a cement plant with annual capacity of more than 1 million tons in the region.
Chinese entrepreneur noted that according to expert estimates there were enough raw materials in Gorno Badakhshan for construction of a large cement plant in the region.
GBAO governor reportedly expressed readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation, noting that the Tajik government supported production entrepreneurship.
Shan Zho with headquarters in Hong Kong is reportedly engaged in implementation of various projects outside China.
We will recall that over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has produced 496,600 tons of cement, which was 473,000 tons more than in the same period last year. Operated by Tajikistan-China joint venture, Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd, the Yovon coal-powered cement plant, which was introduced into operation in late September last year, has reportedly produced 362,800 tons of cement in January-June, which was more than 70 percent of the overall volume of cement produced in Tajikistan over the report period.
Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd was established by Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd, the subsidiary of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd, and Gayur Limited Liability Company. Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Investment Co., Ltd assumes the 75% ownership interest and Gayur Limited Liability Company owns 25 percent of the shares in Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd.
Meanwhile, Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) Tojikcement (Dushanbe cement plant) has produced 101,600 tons of cement over the same six-month period.
Last year, Tajikistan reportedly produced 385,000 tons of cement.
Tajikistan’s annual requirements in cement have sharply increased in connection with construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP), highways and other facilities of the nationwide significance.
