DUSHANBE, September 2, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s largest underground granary has been built in Dushanbe.

An official source at the State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Ghalla (grain product) says the limited liability company Don Garam has built the granary.

“Besides, a pilot mill with daily capacity of 120 tons has been introduced into operation,” the source said, noting that construction of a new large granary is nearing completion in the northern Bobojonghafourov.

According to the statistical data from Ghalla, Tajikistan has imported 415,700 tons of wheat over the first seven months of this year, which was 76,400 tons fewer than in the same period last year.

Over the same seven-month period, Tajikistan has produced 700,000 tons of wheat and Tajik grain growers are expected to produce more than 800,000 tons of wheat this year.
