DUSHANBE, September 25, 2014, Asia-Plus – Specialists from the Republic Cancer Center at the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan participated in the 8th congress of oncologists and radiologists of CI and Eurasia that took place in Kazan, Russia from September 16 to September 18.

According to the Republican Cancer Center, the event included 21 workshops at which 500 reports were delivered by specialists from 21 countries.  

Tajikistan reportedly lodged an application for membership in the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

The Union for International Cancer Control (previously named International Union Against Cancer) or UICC is a membership based, non-governmental organization that exists to help the global health community accelerate the fight against cancer.

Founded in 1933 and based in Geneva, Switzerland, UICC’s growing membership of over 760 organizations across 155 countries, features the world’s major cancer societies, ministries of health, research institutes and patient groups.  Together with its members, key partners, the World Health Organization, World Economic Forum and others, UICC is tackling cancer on a global scale.
