DUSHANBE, October 1, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament ratified Tajikistan’s agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kazakhstan on mutual allotment of lands for construction of diplomatic representative offices on October 1.

Presenting the agreements, First Deputy Foreign Minister, Ozoda Emomali, noted that the agreements aimed at creating necessary conditions for the activities of diplomatic missions of the countries.

Under a Tajikistan-UAE agreement on mutual allotment of lands for construction of diplomatic missions, the parties lease each other land plots in Abu Dhabi (5,800 square meters) and Dushanbe (6,000 square meters).

Under a Tajikistan-Kazakhstan agreement on mutual allotment of lands for construction of diplomatic missions, which was signed in August 2010, Tajikistan leases one hectare of land to Kazakhstan in Dushanbe for 49 years at the rate of 1.00 somoni per year and Kazakhstan leases one hectare of land to Tajikistan in Astana for 49 years at the rate of 1.00 tenge per year.
