DUSHANBE, June 25, 2015, Asia-Plus – According to monthly report, Monitoring and Early Warning in Tajikistan, the 220 kW and 110 kW networks from Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric plants transmitted 129.6 million kW/h of electricity to Afghanistan last month, 29.4 million kW/h more than in the same period last year and 9.4 percent of the total amount of electricity generated in Tajikistan.
Compared to April 2015, Tajik electricity deliveries to Afghanistan last month increased nearly three times. In April, Tajikistan supplied 43.9 million kWh of electricity to Afghanistan
According to Barqi Tojik (the state-owned national utility company), total electricity generation in May 2015 was 1,381 million kWh, or 44.5 million kW/h per day.
Electricity generation in May 2015 increased by 6.2 percent (41.9 million kWh) compared to April 2015. Electricity generation in May 2015 was 20.9 million kW/h more than in the same period last year. This is due to the commissioning of the first unit of the Dushanbe-2 thermal power and the second unit of the Sangtuda-2 HPP in the past year.
