Over 10 percent of vetted 388 anticorruption officers reportedly dismissed

DUSHANBE, June 26, 2015, Asia-Plus —  More that 10 percent of vetted employees of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption have reportedly been dismissed.

According to the anticorruption agency’s official website, two competed commissions charged with assessing the professionalism of anticorruption officers have vetted 388 employees (70 civil servants working in the field of state financial control and 309 officers of the law enforcement units of the agency) to date, of whom 56 employees (16 civil servants working in the field of state financial control and 40 officers of the law enforcement units of the agency) employees have been dismissed.

The anticorruption agency was created by president’s decree of January 10, 2007.  It performs functions previously carried out by the State Financial Control Committee, Main Tax Police Directorate, Directorate for Combating Corruption and other agencies.

The agency placed under president’s direct supervision, and it has staff of 450.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on March 16 appointed his eldest son, Rustam Emomali, to head the Agency for Sate Financial Control and Combating Corruption.
